Help Heal The Amazon Villages

Hi friends. We are writing you with hopes that you will read this message and remember the people here in the Amazon. The virus is taking over many places and we are still in quarantine- because of this, the people here are struggling to buy food and medicine.
There are various organizations collecting donations for Iquitos- we at Kambo Jungle Expeditions want to help four different villages near our lodge in the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve of the Peruvian Amazon. The people of Puerto Miguel, San Jose, Libertad, and Nuevo Loreto are truly in need of help. Some are needing to go to hospital and go to pharmacy, but the transportation is only working three times a week- also the prices for medical supplies in pharmacies have increased by 200% or more.. for example there is a common pain pill that people use here which used to cost 1.50 soles and now is 15 soles.. the vegetables, fruit, meat has increased in all the markets.. oxygen tanks have increased, the small tank used to cost 280 soles and now is 2500 soles. It is a sad thing that is happening here. The government seems to be more focused on cities and the people in the villages are sadly forgotten.
We would like to help in any way we can. We ask all of our friends who have visited us and visited these villages or those who have desire to help these people to please do so. We are collecting donations via PayPal, Venmo, and Western Union – we will purchase medical supplies and food and bring to the villages. We will post receipts of all we buy and post pictures of when we deliver.
Puerto Miguel has about 1000 people and nearly half are infected with virus.. San Jose has about 300 people and nearly half are infected.. Libertad has about 700 people and nearly half are infected, Nuevo Loreto has about 300 and about 20% are infected.
Please help if you can, a little truly goes a long way here.
Quarantine has been extended until mid June and perhaps will be extended again, more people are dying.
Here in the Peruvian Amazon more than 1000 have died. We personally have lost neighbors and friends.
In our own experience, this virus is strong. We had the virus ourselves but thankfully we recovered. Not all are recovering. Many do not have the means to help themselves in the way they need to.
It is a difficult time for everyone, if you can, please help… these people in the jungle are struggling.
Please reach out to us if you have any questions or maybe if you know of any organization that would be willing to help.
